Specklewood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 209 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in hard, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of leathery, large, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either pale yellow or caramel, with white splotches.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, lilac blossoms with finger-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like burning wood.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, bold green, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
