Sourpeach Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This giant fruit tree grows up to 67 feet (20.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.
The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of giant, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are cream and peach.
In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, indigo blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like new books.
In early summer it produces , oval fruit. The smooth crimson skin is peel-able and sour, and the very soft peach flesh is sour and juicy. The beige seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
