Serpent Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This massive cactus grows up to 163 feet (49.7 meters) tall. The very thin stem is pink-red, and is dotted with small silver spines.
It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with dark brown petals and a silver central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is largely flat with 24 raised narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like fish.
The cactus's skin is delicate, the olive flesh is rubbery, and the violet sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
