This copper moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps On trees, In rainy mountain ranges, and In damp forests.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is overwhelmingly resistant.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
The sap is edible and extremely bitter.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
