Orange Glow

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The wispy stem is yellow, and is covered in brittle red spines. The straight, olive trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its green or peach branches are short and thin and start growing at the base the stem.

The very large amounts of wavy-edged, thin leaves are orange and grey. They are robust, and easily come away when pulled.

It is slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are turquoise in the center, dark brown in the middle and violet at the edges grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like soap.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the lilac flesh is rough, and the light grey sap is thin.

All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
