Greywood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large tree grows up to 73 meters (239.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 673 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.

The large clumps of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small amounts of smooth, large, 5 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid grey with drab yellow streaks.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, ashy purple blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like a newborn baby.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, cream, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
