Sunflower

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge flower grows up to 14.8 feet (4.5 meters) tall. Its orange-yellow stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, copper leaves are grey on the underside and are stiff, pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

5 to 8 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 81 cm (31.9 inches) wide, with solid lime petals and an azure central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 petals. They fall easily.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
