Silverberry
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 75 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has many slender, straight stems covered in paper-thin, waxy, silver bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.
The branches are short and thick that and are covered with thick bunches of small, very narrow and elongated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either grey, or purple with silver splotches, flimsy and clammy.
In mid-spring it produces handfuls of giant, amber blossoms with wide petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like bonfire smoke.
In late autumn small long, straight fruits ripen. The fuzzy light brown skin is thick and sour, and the very soft purple flesh is extremely sweet and oily. The olive seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
