Prickly Black

This enormous bine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 2,123 feet (647.1 meters) and growing as high as 643 feet (196.0 meters). It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 12 years for the lime green stems to mature, by which point they each have a diameter of 8 inches (20 cm) and are rough and prickly.

The perforated, rough leaves reach up to 9 inches (23 cm) in length. They are either black or brown, with vibrant orange dots, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the bine produces copious amounts of large caramel flowers.
