It takes 7 months for the yellow-green stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are smooth and slick.
The pleated, fuzzy leaves reach up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) in length. They are either washed-out red, or lilac with turquoise splotches, and have ripped edges.
It comes in 16 varieties, each with a different petal colour.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
