Copper Starfire Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This colossal caudiciform grows up to 168 feet (51.2 meters) tall. The thin stem is blood red, and is covered in large amounts of fine, caramel, hair-like spines. It has a wonky, thin, lime trunk atop a thick ball of smooth, exposed roots. The branches are flat and lime green and are tall, rigid and upright.
The irregular-edged, needle-like leaves are indigo on the edges and lime at the center. They are flimsy, but take some effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either copper or blue, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of several widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like burning wood.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the green flesh is rubbery, and the copper sap is thin.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
