Magenta

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, wavy trunk covered in hard, knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is gray.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with handfuls of large, wispy leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are magenta and deep red.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, azure blossoms with 8 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

In mid-autumn it produces small, 9 pointed fruit. The waxy cream skin is peel-able and bland, and the slightly crunchy black flesh is sweet and syrupy. The blood red seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
