Golden Ashfruit

This big fruit tree grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in thick, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with small amounts of large, asymmetrical leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid gold with brilliant blue zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, olive blossoms with 6 heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like ashes.

In early winter it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The waxy bold green skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sour, and the soft olive flesh is sweet and oily. The gold seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
