This colossal creeper is a slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 2,876 feet (876.6 meters) and growing as high as 501 feet (152.7 meters).

It takes 12 years for the emerald stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 4.1 feet (1.2 meters) and are smooth and rubbery.

The very thick, soft leaves reach up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) in length. They are yellow and slate, and have wavy edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces many small cream flowers.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
