Orangefruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in very thick, rough, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either cyan or vivid orange, with light purple patches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, peach blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have no scent.

In mid-summer it produces , spherical fruit. The clammy beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft olive flesh is salty and very dry. The crimson seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
