Violet Trumpet Flower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its violet stem is very thin, and the huge, emerald leaves are slender, pointed with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with solid violet petals decorated with purple dots and a beige central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of several raised, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has an intense scent that smells like mango, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It comes in 10 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
