Lilac Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in fine, silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of tiny, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the sides and dull green at the center.

In early spring, it produces balls of small, black blossoms with wide petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like cherry.

In mid-autumn it produces , finger-like fruit. The fuzzy blood red skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft lilac flesh is savoury and juicy. The dark grey seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
