Orangefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of small, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of orange that gradient shifts to dark grey at the top.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, blue blossoms with 8 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like wet dog.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The waxy black skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft caramel flesh is savoury and oily. The beige seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
