Copperberry

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 73 feet (22.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in delicate, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of small, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either deep green or beige, with silver streaks.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, deep green blossoms with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like cotton.

In early winter it produces small, perforated fruit. The fuzzy lime skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet and savoury, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is sweet and very dry. The red seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
