This orange-yellow moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In moorlands, and In rainforests.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is overwhelmingly durable.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release hundred of spores.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It actively smothers and kills off other plants.
