Lilac
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown.
The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and dark grey.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, light yellow blossoms with fan-like petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like rainy days.
In mid-summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The waxy olive skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is sweet and salty, and the soft black flesh is bitter and juicy. The silver seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
