Golden Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 28 feet (8.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is silver.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of large, 8 pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and grey.

In early spring, it produces several large, white blossoms with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like faeces.

In late autumn it produces small, pleated fruit. The hairy hazel skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy gold flesh is bitter and savoury and sticky. The caramel seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The entire plant is edible and the grains areslightly salty.
