Azureberry

This big fruit tree grows up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in thin, silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with very large amounts of giant, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either azure, or deep blue with copper patches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, olive blossoms with circular petals. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In late autumn it produces large, spherical fruit. The clammy deep blue skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy deep blue flesh is savoury and powdery. The orange seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
