Black Moss

It is big, growing up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly sturdy.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
It can survive a very long time without water.
The sap is edible and extremely bitter.
