Silverbark

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 106 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, wonky stems covered in wrinkled, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are long and thin that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, needle-like, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are slate and cyan, hardy and sticky.

It produces several medium-sized, crimson flowers with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like paint. In early summer it forms medium-sizedazure aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
