Magenta

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 39 feet (11.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, wavy trunk covered in silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive with peach tips.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of large, orange blossoms with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like old books.

In late autumn it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The clammy magenta skin is peel-able and extremely savoury, and the very soft violet flesh is sour and very juicy. The muted orange seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
