Waterberry Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in waxy, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper and magenta varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, turquoise blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like a newborn baby.

In mid-summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The fuzzy hazel skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is salty, and the crunchy olive flesh is sweet and very juicy. The black seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
