Violet

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The excessive amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of miniature, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are amber and sky blue.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, light grey blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In late summer it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The soft violet skin is stretchy and bitter and sour, and the crunchy blood red flesh is sour and sticky. The drab yellow seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
