Yellowbrush

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 22 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many knobbly, straight stems covered in knobbly, yellow bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, broad, flat, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either red, or intense yellow with grey splotches, tough and soft.

In mid-summer it produces large amounts of tiny, orange flowers with perforated petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like varnish.
