Crimson Aril Fir
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized tree grows up to 22 meters (72.2 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1290 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.
The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground, with hundreds of twigs covered with sparse amounts of giant, emerald needles. The needles themselves are frail.
In late summer it produces large, crimson aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It blooms only at night.
