Bronze

This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 162 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, straight stems covered in waxy, gray bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with small amounts of giant, 3 pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are lime at the bottom and subtle red with bronze edges at the top, frail and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-summer it produces thick bunches of tiny, pink blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like coconut.

In midwinter small wide fruits ripen. The hairy green skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is bitter and savoury, and the very soft sky blue flesh is sweet and sticky. The slate seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
