Crimson clinging tree

This average-sized tree grows up to 43 meters (141.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 164 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches are short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, huge, needle-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are hazel on the edges and crimson at the center.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, cream blossoms with 8 triangular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like new books.

In late summer it forms giant, crimson, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
