Burgundy Conifer
Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in fine, smooth, burgundy bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.
The small handful of branches are very long and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with small bunches of miniature, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are robust.
In late summer it produces tiny, black, shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for making strong rope
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
