Silverfern

This large shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 49 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous long and flexible, straight stems covered in smooth, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, pleated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime or purple that gradient shifts to pastel green at the top, delicate and covered in fine hairs.

In late summer it produces many tiny, beige flowers with slender, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like blood.
