Serpent's Spine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large caudiciform grows up to 89 feet (27.1 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is cream, and is covered in sharp spines. It has a straight, thick, gnarled, dark grey trunk atop a thick, gnarled mess of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and red and are long, thin and wispy.
The serrated-edged, circular leaves are found in caramel, bronze and silver varieties. They are light, but detach easily.
It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are vibrant orange on the edges and copper at the center grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has a faint scent that smells like bonfire smoke.
The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the peach flesh is rough, and the lilac sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The pollen is overwhelmingly toxic to people but not to certain animals.
