Majestic Mahogany

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This colossal tree grows up to 150 meters (492.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 277 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The numerous branches are short stubs, with thousands of twigs covered with sparse amounts of miniature, moss green needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces giant, turquoise aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
