Copperfruit

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of giant, very thick leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are olive at the bottom and hazel with caramel dots at the top.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, gold blossoms with 9 oblong shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like cherry.

In mid-autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The smooth ashy red skin is tough and sweet and savoury, and the very soft slate flesh is bland and powdery. The light brown seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
