Golden Splitstem

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 2 asymmetrical stems. Each stem is brown, and is covered in large amounts of fine, cream, hair-like spines.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are peach at the sides and gold at the center grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 36 curved petals. It has a faint scent that smells like roses.

The cactus's skin is thin, the dark grey flesh is rough, and the cream sap is thin.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
