Magenta Fruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in waxy, silver and white bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of large, long, narrow leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are amber at the bottom and magenta with slate edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces several large, purple blossoms with fan-like petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like mint.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, long, tapering fruit. The smooth silver skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is sweet and spicy, and the crunchy pink flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The bronze seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
