Coffeeleaf Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This large shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 179 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many slender, crooked stems covered in fine, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, fan-like, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are green and silver, delicate and soft.

In mid-summer it produces lots of tiny, olive flowers with fan-like petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like coffee.

It comes in 82 varieties.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
