Starlight Breadflower
Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This large flower grows up to 2.4 feet (74 cm) tall. Its silver stem is thin and splits into many branching stems at the base, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are thin with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Each stem splits 2 to 4 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with solid grey petals decorated with dark grey dots and a beige central disk. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of many tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.
It has the faintest scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has excessive amounts of pollen, but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird and is ignored by most insect species.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
