Mahogany Bellflower
Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 29 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has many thick, crooked stems covered in thick, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper with caramel tips, resistant and waxy.
In late summer it produces several large, lilac flowers with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like vanilla.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
