Purple Petal
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its grey or muted purple stem is very thick, and the tiny, gray leaves are long, narrow with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
Each stem splits 2 to 6 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with alternating petals of purple and red, with a gold central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 58 petals. They are hardy.
It has a delicate scent that smells like soap, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator and is ignored by most insect species.
