Violet
Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This giant shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for around 45 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of knobbly, wavy stems covered in thick, smooth, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, perforated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either violet, or orange with slate splotches, robust and covered in fine hairs.
In early summer it produces handfuls of small, sky blue blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like mango.
In late winter oval fruits ripen. The waxy blood red skin is peel-able and savoury, and the crunchy orange flesh is sour and syrupy. The bright red seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
