Crimson Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This big tree grows up to 65 meters (213.3 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 81 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in very thick, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.
The branches are very long and slender and are covered with sparse amounts of rough, huge, long, narrow leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid violet or azure, with slate streaks.
In late summer it forms giant, crimson aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
