Silverbark

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 175 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has several wide, straight stems covered in very thick, rough, silver bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, asymmetrical, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in violet and indigo varieties, light and frail and clammy.

It produces many medium-sized, beige flowers with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like warm milk. In early winter it forms largebronze, winged seeds that float and land far away.
