Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This colossal flower grows up to 12.6 feet (3.8 meters) tall. Its yellow-green stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, grey or aquamarine leaves are fan-like with rounded edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 2 to 6 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 38 cm (15.0 inches) wide, with alternating petals of magenta and white, with an ashy yellow central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 22 petals. They are sturdy.

It has an intense scent that smells like rotten eggs, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
