Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 44 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in thick, silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is light brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of large, slender, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either aquamarine or lilac, with bronze streaks.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, hazel blossoms with spiral petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In mid-summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The leathery pink skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy black flesh is sweet and dry. The caramel seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
