Caramel Heartvine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big flower grows up to 6.4 feet (2.0 meters) tall. Its caramel stem is wispy and straight, and the miniature, pink-red leaves are circular with smooth edges. 3 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Each stem splits 2 to 7 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 58 cm (22.8 inches) wide, with petals that are washed-out red in the center, blood red in the middle and lilac at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of several widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like a man, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to bees.

It can flourish even in standing water.
