Burgundy Glowvine

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 13 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous knobbly, curved stems covered in waxy, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are short and thin that and are covered with thick bunches of huge, thin, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of burgundy that gradient shifts to subtle red at the top, resilient and rough.

In late spring it produces a thick sheet of giant, lilac blossoms with crescent-shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like alcohol.

In mid-autumn tiny long, narrow fruits ripen. The sticky caramel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft grey flesh is sweet and very juicy. The brilliant yellow seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
